Did You Adopt an Isolation BFF?
If there was ever a right time to get a new dog, quarantine would definitely be it! With plenty of time to bond, train, and exercise with your new four-legged friend, you’re not only keeping yourself occupied, you’re giving your dog a great start to his new life.
Once it’s time to begin our new normal and return to work, some canine friends may be relieved to have the house back to themselves again, while others may struggle with separation anxiety. If you have been with your dog non-stop every day for the past few weeks, you may begin to notice destructive behaviors or a relapse in your training efforts once you start leaving home without them. To prevent this, it’s important to establish a routine where you leave your dog home alone for periods of time and, for puppy owners, giving them space to be alone.
Whether you have a high energy breed or a clingy cuddler on your hands, Canine to Five’s doggy daycare in Detroit and Ferndale offers a home away from home for all dogs. In addition to giving you peace of mind, our pack style environment will provide your dog with mental and physical stimulation, socialization with other dogs and humans, and lots of fun while you’re away! We can also provide grooming services, extra playtime, and mid-day snacks, all before it’s time to go home.
If you’re unsure of your dog’s history with other dogs, offering yummy treats each time you see another pup on your walks, or outside of your home, will help create a positive association for him. For puppy owners, we recommend reviewing these tips on how to socialize your puppy while still practicing social distancing. If your dog is already fearful or barking when they see another dog, review these tips on classical and operant conditioning.
For dogs that prefer two-legged companions, Canine to Five offers Private Play daycare. Here, your dog will receive one-on-one attention, individual play times, and a spacious enclosure to themselves.
As we slowly begin to welcome dogs back into our facility with our new social distancing policies in place, our capacity will be limited. If you’re interested in daycare or overnight boarding for your dog in the near future, get started now! We will be very busy once we open back up.
Here’s what you’ll need to start:
