Dog Parks

Visiting a dog park is a great way to let your dog let loose and play with other dogs. Detroit is home to several great off-leash dog parks where your dog can run free and make new friends.

The Grand Circus Park Dog Park is located in the eastern half of Grand Circus Park, near Comerica Park. If you are visiting you can usually find easy metered parking on E. Adams Street, Madison Street by the Opera House, or Washington Boulevard, just across the park.

The Detroit Dog Park in Corktown is located at the corner of 17th St. and Rose St. in Macomb Park, just west of the Michigan Central Station. It’s open from 7am to 10pm daily. Street parking is available.

The Midtown Dog Park is located at the corner of Cass Avenue and West Canfield Street. It has a separate small dog area and water for your pup, and is open dawn to dusk. Metered parking is available on Cass and Canfield Streets, and on evenings and weekends the Wayne State University parking lot just north on Cass is available to park in for free.

On the east side, Balduck Park, located at Chandler Park Drive and Canyon Street, has a dog park behind the wooded area at the north end of the park. It is open from dawn to dusk. Those wooded areas can be nice for an on-leash walk as well. Park along Canyon Street.

Remember!

For all dog parks it is important that your dog be vaccinated and appropriately-licensed, and be sure to keep your dog on-leash when you aren’t in the gated area. And if you are using metered parking in the City of Detroit, the Park Detroit app is a super convenient way to keep the meter maid at bay!
